The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) is working 'to improve the lives of the one in five children and adults nationwide with learning and attention issues—by empowering parents and young adults, transforming schools and advocating for equal rights and opportunities' (http://www.ncld.org/mission-and-history/). If you haven't yet visited their website, take a look at http://www.ncld.org. This organization has resources and supports for students and young adults, their parents, and health care professionals. They also sponsor two important resources for educators: RTI Action Network and Get Ready to Read. NCLD plays on important role in the field by making policy recommendations on a range of issues impacting students with learning differences. Through their hard work and dedication, they continue to shape public policy regarding issues that are important in the field of education. As you start the new year, fuel the fire that made you become an educator in the first place! Continue to advocate for the needs of your students along with organizations such as NCLD!
